Eligiblity Requirements


To be eligible to participate in a Local "Miss" Competition, you must meet the following criteria:

*Must reside in the State of Massachusetts for at least sixty (60) days prior to competing in the Local Competiton

*OR be enrolled on a full-time basis (full-time status as determined by the school) at an accredited college or university in Massachusetts. **Enrollment in an "online" educational program does not qualify for this Eligibility option. You then meet one of the other Eligibility requirements, Residence or Employment, listed above in order to compete.

*OR be employed on a full-time basis (no less than 30 hours) for thirty (30) days in Massachusetts prior to the Local Competition

*Eligible age range is 18 to 28 years old. Any competitor born between 1996 and 2006 are eligible to compete in any Miss level of competition.

PLEASE NOTE: 18 year olds have the choice to either compete in the TEEN (13 - 18 years old) or MISS program. However, once you compete in either a Teen or Miss competition, you can not switch back and forth between the two programs. *Must be a citizen of the United States of America at the time of entrance in first Competition

*Never competed in any National Finals of the Miss America Organization

*Competitor must be a Female. "Female" means a born female or an individual who has fully completed Sex Reassignment Surgery via Vaginolplasty (male to female) with supporting medical documentation.

*Must be in good health and can participate fully and without limitation in any Program activities

*Must have never been married, had a marriage annulled, or will get married during her Year of Service. You can become engaged, however.

*Must not now be pregnant, is not a parent or adoptive parent, nor become a parent/adoptive parent during her Year of Service

*Must never have been convicted of any criminal offense

*Must not have criminal charges presently pending, and/or not been charged with multiple minor or petty offenses in the last 24 months

*Has not been involved in any act or behavior that could be perceived contrary to the mission, vision, goals, objectives, or policies of the Miss America Program. This includes activity on social media

*Must not use or consume or distribute any illegal or controlled dangerous substances other than those obtained under a valid prescription and taken according to the directions of a licensed healthcare professional. Must not abuse the use of alcohol .
