To be eligible to participate in a Local "Miss" or "Teen" Competition, you must meet the following criteria:
*Must reside in the State of Massachusetts for at least one hundred and twenty (120) days prior to competing in the Local
Competition
*OR be enrolled on a full-time basis (full-time status as determined by the school) at an accredited college or university
in Massachusetts. **Enrollment in an "online" educational program does not qualify for this Eligibility option.
You then meet one of the other Eligibility requirements, Residence or Employment, listed above in order to compete.
*OR be employed on a full-time basis (no less than 40 hours) for one hundred and twenty (120) days in Massachusetts prior
to the Local Competition
*"MISS" Eligible age range is 18 to 28 years old. You must be 18 at the State Competition and no older than
27 at the State Competition
*"TEEN" Eligible age range is 14 to 18 years old. You must be 14 at the State Competition and no older than
18 at the State Competition
IMPORTANT: Delegates 18 year olds who meet all other eligibility criteria may select whether they wish to compete in the
Miss or Teen divisions but acknowledge that once they select a division, they may not change divisions until the next pageant
cycle.
*Must be a citizen of the United States of America at the time of entrance in first Competition
*Never competed in any National Finals of the Miss America Organization.
*Competitor must be a Female. "Female" means a born female or an individual who has fully completed Sex Reassignment
Surgery via Vaginolplasty (male to female) with supporting medical documentation.
*Must be in good health and can participate fully and without limitation in any Program activities
*Must not now married or will get married during her Year of Service. You can become engaged, however.
*Must not now be pregnant, is not a parent or adoptive parent, nor become a parent/adoptive parent during her Year of
Service
*Must never have been convicted of any criminal offense
*Must not have criminal charges presently pending
*Has not been involved in any act or behavior that could be perceived contrary to the mission, vision, goals, objectives,
or policies of the Miss America Program. This includes activity on social media.
*Must not use or consume or distribute any illegal or controlled dangerous substances other than those obtained under
a valid prescription and taken according to the directions of a licensed healthcare professional. Must not abuse the use of
alcohol .
Further requirements:
*Must join MAO's Membership to participate in any Local Competition and pay the one-time-per season fee of $39.99.
*Must fundraise a minimum of $30.00 per each Local Competition you enter for the American Heart Association's "Go
Red For Women" campaign.
*Must purchase Official Red Athletic Wear for Health & Fitness phase of competition from REBEL ATHLETICS Miss America
