About MMSFI
FOUNDATION PROFILE
The Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated
to helping young women recognize their potential. Each year, the Foundation stages the Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant,
a preliminary to the Miss America Program, the largest source of scholarship for young women in the country.
THE MISSION OF MISS MASSACHUSETTS
The Miss Massachusetts Program provides personal and professional opportunities for young women and promotes their voice in
culture, politics and the community. The Program empowers young women to achieve their personal and professional goals, and
provides a forum in which to express their opinions, talents, and intelligence.
WHO IS MISS MASSACHUSETTS?
The Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Program attracts some
of the most intelligent, highly motivated and community-oriented young women in Massachusetts. Recent Miss Massachusetts alumnae
include lawyers, doctors, television reporters, marketing executives, a director of a charitable foundation, and a best-selling
author. All young women meeting the age and other requirements are eligible to compete.
A SOURCE OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Miss America 1954 Bess Myerson received the first scholarship
award of $5,000 in 1945. Since then, the Miss America Organization has provided more than $100 million in educational grants,
making it in the world's largest provider of scholarships exclusively for women in the world. Last year alone, in-kind and
cash scholarships provided to contestants at all levels of competition totaled more than $30 million.
REACHING OUT TO MASSACHUSETTS
The Miss Massachusetts Program stands for education, attracting
highly motivated young women who are already leaders in their communities. The Program reinforces that the positive aspects
of our society are still important and desirable among our nation's youth. They are the future of our cities, towns and Commonwealth.
A TRADITION OF SERVING THE COMMUNITY
Contestants and titleholders embrace a platform of community
service. On a state and national level, the Miss Massachusetts and Miss America organizations raise grassroots support for
an issue of national concern by participating in an annual National Day of Service. In addition, everyone involved in
running the Program is a volunteer, and by participating, volunteers are giving back to their communities.
HELPING MASSACHUSETTS
The Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant draws hundreds
of people who spend money locally on hotels, restaurants, attractions and shopping. Our educational mission helps Massachusetts's
colleges and universities to attract ideal students and to recruit students by gaining exposure with contestants' peers, family
members and friends.
